I am Chantel Maria Lerato Booysen
My Story
This word brings up so many wounds… I laugh and make jokes about being the most confused South African but I had no choice but to create laughter out of such a painful experience.
Caged– means, you had no escape. I had to imprison myself because I always felt like I never belonged anywhere. My mother’s family made me feel too black and my father’s family wasn’t accepting of me being colored.
Ashamed & Unworthy – I locked myself away and hid from being me because I didn’t know who I was…
My life lesson/ Testimony
Free – Accepting myself and asking for guidance to who I am has set me free.
